More than 15,000 retailers occupy the 27-acre space, which is broken down into 27 sections, roughly categorized by the products each section offers:

Books are in Section 1, while Sections 2-4 are home to young fashion designers. Sections 5-6 have vintage clothing, and you’ll find art in Sections 7-9. Sections 10-24 offer a real mix of miscellaneous stuff, while Sections 25-27 are dedicated to crafts and home-decor items.

Getting there
You can opt to take the BTS to the end of the Sukhumvit Line. Get off at Mo Chit station and follow the crowds back through Chatuchak Park to the market.

Alternatively, and a little easier the MRT brings you up directly inside the market. Just make sure to get off at MRT Kamphaeng Phet Station not Chatuchak Park.

After graduating from college, owner Par joined with her friend Sho to open up this cork and leather accessories shop. Mazmoizelle does messenger bags, school bags and small purses, as well as passport covers made from cork, leather and canvas. Expect preppy designs fusing canvas and leather in tones like brown, black, beige and green, messenger bags made from cork, and leather wallets and notebooks in various colors. The designs here are simple and understated, but what’s really cool is the use of cork as one of the main materials, as well as their tasteful color combinations like the carrier bag in beige and indigo, khaki and green or even beige and ash. This accessories shop was founded three years ago by budding jewelry designer Nicha “Nan” Iamsakulpanich, whose vintage-style pieces take their cues from nature. Nampueng and her elder sister turned their passion for dressing other women into a haven of romantic, vintage-style accessories. Chuan Pissamai was born six years ago when Nampueng started using leftover costume jewelry to decorate hats. Ladies can browse the seemingly unlimited range of flower-pattern shoes, bags and accessories, but the real highlights are the headbands (B290-590) and hats (B450-3,000)—Nampueng crafts them herself and vows that each is one of a kind.

Parinya Songsamut’s 18-year-old percussion instrument store, Maeklong, isn’t named after the river that marks the border of Eastern Thailand, but rather derives from two words combined—Mae, the name of Parinya’s beloved mother, and Klong, meaning drum, his favorite instrument. Parinya doesn’t have a music degree but his long love of music makes him somewhat of a percussion guru. “Apart from selling instruments, I also sell inspiration,” he says.

This tranquil spot boasting white couches, a garden bench and teashop is a great spot to recuperate thanks in part to its chill French soundtrack. Skip the smoothies and coffee and go straight for the vanilla tea latte (B65), a concoction of vanilla black tea, vanilla syrup and milk served on ice. They also have cakes and sandwiches on offer.

Uncle Add, the patriarch of this old-school orange juice shop, has been squeezing OJ for 25 years. This time-capsule enjoys a steady stream of thirsty tourists and loyal customers which means the uncle ends up squeezing about 6,000 little oranges a day. The perfectly sour and sweet juice comes in small (B12) and big glass bottles (B50) and it’s one baht extra if you want ice.

Comfortable seating, a live DJ and splendid cocktails. This spot has been around for 12 years and is owned by a family that knows how to mix an extra-smooth martini (B250), even if the Long Island Iced Tea (B250) which includes a splash of Kahlua and lemonade, is their specialty.

This wooden khao gaeng (prepared food) shop, with its red clay plates and coconut shells used as cups, is famous for its fresh ingredients. Make sure you try the delicious kanom jeen naam phrik (B40). The rich peanut sauce over rice noodles combines wonderfully with the deep-fried morning glory. Dishes are around B50 each, and you need to get there early as they tend to run out fast.

The signs that you are at a legit Maprao Hom stall are the coconuts hanging on the parasols and the toothpicks bearing their insignia. They serve their homemade coconut ice cream in young coconut husks and give out free cups of coconut juice. Their second stall stands opposite the Phufa shop (opposite MRT Kamphaeng Phet).
